The St Vincent de Paul Society in Lane Cove is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.

Our members and volunteers assist people experiencing disadvantage with resources including food parcels and vouchers, financial assistance, help with energy bills and other expenses, budget counselling, school items for children, and the provision of other material items such as furniture, clothing, bedding and any other household items.

Volunteer Opportunities

St. Vincent de Paul—Lane Cove Conference

Out St. Vincent de Paul Conference is a group of volunteers here at Lane Cove who volunteer together. Our main area of work is personally visiting with people in their homes who are experiencing hardship and disadvantage. When someone contacts us with a request for help they can expect to receive a home visit from two friendly SVP volunteers who are there to listen and help.

We provide a range of material and financial support including food or food vouchers, clothing vouchers, furniture, assistance with utility and phone bills, assistance associated with getting back into the workforce, and back to school.

Vinnies assistance is offered in a spirit of support and friendship by members from all walks of life and all our visits are dealt with in a completely confidential and non-judgemental manner.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Lane Cove Conference members meet at 7:00pm for about an hour on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

Our love of God and shared spirituality is the source of our energy and inspiration.

The woman on the left is wearing a black and orange vest and blue gloves, the woman in the middle has long curly hair and is wearing an orange vest over green patterned clothing, and the man on the right has a beard and is wearing an orange vest with the name 'David' written on it. They are surrounded by trees.

St. Vincent de Paul—Food Van

Our St. Michael’s Vinnies Food Van is an outreach services that provides hot meals, sandwiches, snacks, blankets, toiletries, hot beverages, and most importantly, companionship to people experiencing hardship, or who are at risk of homelessness.

Anyone can approach our Vinnies Van. We especially encourage people who are living rough or in overcrowded or insecure accommodation to access this service. This service is delivered at no charge to people who use it.

We have six teams of volunteers on a six week rotation visiting Greenway Towers at Kirribilli every Thursday night. We have been operating our van for some time now and our van’s popularity is growing exponentially.

Behind the scenes we also have teams of volunteers who make the fresh sandwiches and hot meals which our van distributes.

If you would like to join the van and distribute food and goods; or if you would like to join as a volunteer who prepares food; or if you would just like to find our more, please contact us on:
